Naval Audit Service

The Naval Audit Service (NAVAUDSVC) the organization responsible for internal audit of the Department of the Navy. Audit reports provide the Department of the Navy with feedback on efficiency and effectiveness of Navy programs, systems, functions, and funds. Among other programs, audits review the Navy's use of contractors for logistical support, intelligence work, and weapons systems operations.

Almost all information by the Naval Audit Service is restricted and unavailable to the public. A minimal website describing the service was shut down and the agency maintains no public web presence. Audit reports are provided to the Department of the Navy commands and activities; Department of Defense Inspector General (DODIG); Congress; and, via the Freedom of Information Act, to the public. Agency reports can be obtained by contacting NAVAUDSVC.FOIA@navy.mil.
